Veneers improve the appearance of chipped, worn, irregularly shaped and heavily filled teeth, and achieve that beautiful white smile you have always dreamt of. Veneers are often shown on makeover programmes because they can completely transform your smile.

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are custom made and bonded to your teeth. They usually involve very minimal tooth reduction, and are incredibly strong and durable. They have a very natural appearance.

With regular examinations with our dentist in Liverpool and good oral hygiene measures, veneers should generally last more than 10 years.

Placement of Porcelain Veneers

Before the finished porcelain veneers can be fitted to your teeth, we must remove a thin layer of enamel from the front of the teeth. This makes space for the veneers and helps bond the porcelain to the teeth by roughening the bonding surface.

A thin layer of dental adhesive is then applied to the teeth, and the porcelain veneers are placed. The process can take several visits to achieve outstanding results you will be proud to show. In select cases, you may not require any preparation of your teeth.

"Most patients I see are nervous, self-conscious of their teeth and think that nothing can be done. They're always surprised at the options available and how we can help them. Sometimes very little treatment can make such a dramatic change. The most satisfying part of the job is not only seeing the difference in a person's teeth, but the difference in the person; more confident, smiling and not worrying about coming to the dentist."

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front surface of natural teeth. They are used in cosmetic dentistry to improve the appearance of teeth by addressing issues such as discoloured teeth, crooked teeth, and gaps, helping you achieve a perfect smile.

There are two main types of dental veneers: porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Porcelain veneers are made from a durable ceramic material and are highly resistant to staining. Composite veneers are made from a tooth-coloured composite resin material and can be applied in a single visit.

Dental veneers can address a variety of cosmetic dental issues, including discoloured teeth, stained teeth, chipped or broken teeth, crooked teeth, and gaps between teeth. They provide a natural-looking, tooth-coloured solution to improve the overall appearance of your smile.

The process for getting dental veneers typically involves an initial consultation with your dentist to discuss your goals and options. During the procedure, a small amount of enamel is removed from your natural teeth to make room for the veneers. Impressions of your teeth are taken to create custom veneers. Temporary veneers may be placed while your permanent veneers are being made. Once ready, the permanent veneers are bonded to your teeth.

Composite veneers are made from a tooth-coloured resin material and can be applied directly to the teeth in a single visit, making them a quicker and often more affordable option. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, are custom-made in a dental lab and require multiple visits. They are more durable and resistant to staining than composite veneers.

With proper care and maintenance, dental veneers can last between 10 to 15 years. Porcelain veneers tend to last longer than composite veneers. Good oral hygiene practices, regular dental check-ups, and avoiding habits such as biting hard objects can help prolong the lifespan of your veneers.

During the initial consultation for veneers, your dentist will evaluate your oral health, discuss your cosmetic goals, and determine if veneers are the right dental treatment for you. They will explain the procedure, answer any questions, and help you choose between porcelain and composite veneers based on your needs and preferences.

Veneers are a suitable option for many people looking to enhance their smile. However, they may not be appropriate for individuals with severe dental issues or poor oral health. Your dentist will assess your situation during the initial consultation to determine if veneers are the best option for you.

Caring for your dental veneers involves maintaining good oral hygiene practices, such as brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting your dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings. Avoid biting hard objects and using your teeth as tools to prevent damage to your veneers.

Yes, veneers can be used to fix mildly crooked teeth. They provide a cosmetic solution by covering the front surface of the teeth, giving the appearance of a straighter smile. However, for more severe cases of misalignment, orthodontic treatment may be necessary. Your dentist will advise you on the best course of action during your initial consultation.
Testimonial

"I am an extremely nervous patient, but after consultation with Dr Bennett, I plucked up the courage to have some veneers fitted. Treatment was completed in November 2015.

All the staff were friendly and extremely supportive throughout my treatment. Dr Bennett transformed my smile and I've since received lots of compliments on my new look. I would definitely recommend Liverpool Smile Studio."
