Veneers are thin sheets of porcelain, which are coloured and shaped to mimic natural teeth. They are placed onto your teeth and can help create a beautiful, flawless smile. Getting ready
Porcelain veneers are placed on the fronts of your teeth. This surface – your tooth enamel – therefore needs to be prepared by being shaved down. We only ever remove just enough to accommodate the veneers, so that when they are fitted they will seamlessly fit in with the rest of your teeth. This usually means removing only around half a millimetre of your tooth enamel. The use of a local anesthetic can be used, depending on the pain threshold of each of our patients.
Making an impression
Once the tooth enamel has been trimmed, an impression of the tooth will be made. This mould is then sent to a lab where the veneer is custom-made for your mouth.
Once the teeth that will be receiving the veneers have been prepared, they may have a rough surface, which may be uncomfortable when touching it with your tongue. To avoid this sensation, a temporary veneer will be placed over the teeth as a protective covering while you wait for your permanent veneers in Liverpool.
The finish line
The permanent veneer will be examined and assessed by our dentist and trimmed to create a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing fit. The veneer is then attached in the desired position and ground down to the exact measurements made by our dentist. Once your veneers are securely in place, your new look teeth will be cleaned and polished.
