The role of dental laminates

It’s well known that one of the roles of laminates is to improve aesthetics. And when it comes to aesthetic procedures, there is nothing quite as impressive as our full veneers Liverpool. Putting the control back into our patients’ hands, you can choose the appearance you wish, taking back control. You can also decide whether you want a more natural-looking finish, rolling back the clock or a true Hollywood-style finish. We will endeavour to meet your needs when possible and suggest the most likely shades to suit your face, age and aesthetic goals.

Longevity: how long do laminates last?

Dental laminates are not really limited as a prosthetic. Although they can be chipped and cracked by trauma, it is far more common for laminates to become detached from their tooth surface. This was a common occurrence with cemented laminates, although it is becoming less of a problem when modern UV-cured resins are used. If you can safely store any detached veneers Liverpool and bring them with you to our clinic, reattachment is a simple and low-cost solution.

It is particularly important that you continue with your 6-month dental checkups once you have received a set of laminates. There’s a type of cavity that can occur at the edge of a laminate and extend beneath the surface of the underlying tooth; these can be difficult to spot and rarely have symptoms. They can become very substantial without regular checkups, causing a loss of a laminate and even the tooth.

That said, with good care and a fairly sedentary lifestyle, veneers can easily last 10 years or more.

Porcelain laminates vs composite

The use of porcelain wafers is significantly less common than it used to be, with a mixture of polymers providing a tougher and still realistic veneer. But there is a significantly different strategy for creating composites. We now use layers with mixtures of UV-cured resins, impregnated with nanoparticles of ceramics; this gives an excellent and comfortable surface when built upon. The front surfaces of the teeth may act as a starting point to build upon. Composites can be fitted in a single sitting, unlike wafers that need to be produced by our partner dental laboratory.

Whether traditional laminates or composites are more appropriate depends on many factors. It is best discussed once you’re in our clinic and have had initial screening and x-rays.

Clinic finances

We understated that the cost of dental care can have a substantial effect on the treatment options that patients select. Therefore, to prevent people from selling themselves short and limiting their care, within our clinic, we offer 0% interest payment plans. This can help you to spread the cost into monthly instalments.
