Porcelain veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments here at Liverpool Smile Studio. A single veneer can be used to improve the appearance of one tooth that is, for example, permanently discoloured or slightly chipped, whilst a full set enable your dentist to create a beautiful smile makeover.
A veneer is a micro-thin shell of porcelain that is placed over the front surfaces of the teeth to improve their appearance. They are suitable for use in both the upper and lower jaw, and can mask a multitude of smile problems.
At our Liverpool dental centre we often hear veneers being referred to as “like false fingernails for the teeth.” In some senses that is true, but there is one important difference; false nails don’t have a particularly long shelf life. Every veneer created at Liverpool Smile Studio is designed to be a long-term solution to your smile concerns.
With regular visits to your dentist and hygienist, and a fastidious home care routine, the veneers from Liverpool Smile Studio should last you for ten years or more.
The secret to successful veneer treatment is to create results that look as natural as they do beautiful. Each veneer is hand-crafted and designed to suit your individual dental situation.
We use veneers at our Liverpool clinic to improve the appearance of many common smile issues. These include:
- Permanently stained or discoloured teeth, where teeth whitening treatment will not work
- Teeth with small chips or cracks
- Mild issues with alignment and spacing, as an alternative to orthodontics
- Uneven smile lines
- Worn teeth
The procedure
It takes at least two appointments to have your veneers fitted at our Liverpool dental clinic. During the first session your dentist will take photographs, impressions, and measurements as necessary. The will also prepare your teeth by removing a miniscule amount of tooth enamel to aid in the bonding process – this is done under local anaesthetic.
When your veneers are ready, you will be called back to Liverpool Smile Studio to have them fitted. Your dentist will check you are entirely happy before bonding them in place.
